Indiana asks for federal aid for summer flooding damage

By Brandon Smith | Published on in Uncategorized

The state of Indiana is asking the federal government for aid for 19 counties affected by early summer flooding. Governor Mike Pence has requested FEMA grants for governments and some non-profit organizations. These include IPR-area counties of Huntington, Jay, Wabash, and Wells. The grants would pay up to 75 percent of expenses for things like repairing damage to roads, bridges and utilities. It could also be used for debris removal and traffic control.

The governor’s office notes that the state can request more counties be added later on. Indiana previously secured Department of Agriculture aid to make up for crop damage sustained throughout nearly the entire state.
