Indiana House GOP elect new majority leader

By Brandon Smith | Published on in Uncategorized

Indiana House Republicans this afternoon elected a new majority leader, one of the highest ranking positions in the caucus. Berne Representative Matt Lehman has served in the General Assembly for seven years. House Speaker Brian Bosma says Lehman’s calm, measured personality and small-town background will bring stability to the GOP.

Former majority leader Jud McMillan abruptly resigned last week when a video of McMillan cheating on his wife was made public. He had only been in the majority leader role for a year, after replacing former representative Eric Turner, who resigned in the wake of an ethics probe that prompted ethics reform in the General Assembly.
