Trump, Sanders Win Delaware County, and Indiana

By Stan Sollars, IPR News | Published on in Uncategorized

GOP front-runner Donald Trump won Indiana and Delaware county in Tuesday’s Indiana primary.  Muncie-area voters gave him 52.83 percent of the vote. Runner-up Ted Cruz got 36.97 percent of the local vote. Cruz announced last night that he has suspended his campaign.

Meanwhile, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders beat Hillary Clinton by a 55.74 percent to 44.26 in Delaware county. Delaware county voter turnout in 2016 was 34.4 percent.  That’s better than 2012, but less than the 41 percent figure of 2008.

16,645 Republicans voted in Delaware county.  Democratic Party voters totaled 13,865.
