The Indiana Secretary of State’s office is crediting a voter registration reminder on Facebook for thousands of Hoosiers registering online in recent days.

The Facebook-sponsored reminder asks users if they are registered to vote and when clicked, directs them on how to register in their home state.  It is running across the country from September 23 – 26.  Secretary of State Connie Lawson says in that time, Indiana has seen 30,000 people register to vote online.  In a statement, Lawson says Friday saw the third highest daily total for online registrations in the state’s history.  She praised Facebook for the reminder, which also lets people encourage their friends to register to vote.

October 11 is the deadline to register to vote in Indiana.  Voters can sign-up or update information in several ways:

  • online at indianavoters.com
  • use the state’s voter phone app
  • apply in person at county clerk’s offices
  • apply in person at branches of the BMV
