Indiana’s Secretary of State says 58 percent of registered Hoosier voters cast ballots in November’s presidential election.  Voter turnout in the state was made official in a report today.  The state saw more than 2.8 million votes cast.

This year’s presidential election set a new state record for early voting – with 33 percent of voters filling out absentee ballots or voting early in person.  In 2008, when the last record was set, that number was 24 percent.

Secretary of State Connie Lawson says three Hoosier counties reached 71 percent voter turnout and another three counties saw 70 percent turnout.
