Both Ball State basketball teams won road games on Saturday.

James Whitford’s men’s basketball Cardinals won a shootout at Central Michigan in overtime, 109 to 100. Tayler Persons scored a career-high 32 points.  The Cards lead the MAC West Divison with a 17-and-10 overall record, and an  8-and-6 conference tally.  The Cardinals hold the fourth-best conference record – something they need to keep in order to get a first-round bye in the MAC tournament in Cleveland.  Next up is a Tuesday night home game with Eastern Michigan.

Brady Sallee’s women’s basketball Cardinals, meanwhile, beat Northern Illinois in DeKalb, 92 to 84.  The Cards are 18-and-8 overall, and are second in the MAC West with an 11-and-3 conference mark, one game behind Central Michigan.  The Cards return to the road for a Wednesday night game at Western Michigan.

In baseball, Rich Maloney’s Cardinals won two games and lost one over the weekend, in Clearwater, Florida.  Ball State beat 22nd-ranked Maryland 8 to 3 on Friday … defeated Alabama State 3-to-2 on Saturday, then lost to #6 Louisville 4-to-10 on Sunday. The Cards are 2-and-1 on the season.
