Seventh-seeded Buffalo upset the No. 2 seed Ball State in the Mid-American Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, 69 to 65.  The MAC usually places just its champion in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament. It looks like another Women’s National Invitation Tournament bid for Ball State.

Meanwhile, on the men’s side of the ledger, James Whitford’s Cardinals take on Western Michigan in the MAC men’s tournament quarterfinals, Thursday, in Cleveland. The teams split their two games in the regular season with wins on their home courts. The Cards are the No. 4 seed, Western is 5^th. Tipoff at Quicken Loans Arena is at 2:30 p.m. You can see the game on ESPN-3.
