Dozens of Cars Egged in Peru; Police Scrambling

By Network Indiana | Published on in Crime

If you’ve ever had to clean up eggs off of your car, you know the nasty, sticky mess that some people in Peru are having to deal with. RTV6 reports that over 60 cars were egged in the city since Friday, and the people whose cars were hit are pretty mad.

“I was mad about it… then I noticed all these cars down the road on both sides were egged,” Daniel Farmer told the TV station. “I want to say maybe young people out having fun. In their eyes, it’s fun, maybe.”

Patricia Davis said her and her husband’s vehicles were both targeted over the weekend.

“I think they’re doing it for the prank-ness – just as something to do because they don’t have anything to do,” she said. “No idea why someone would want to go out and randomly damage someone’s property.”

Peru Police Chief Michael Meeks said his officers are stepping up patrols in those areas where vehicles were targeted.

Meeks said his officers are also looking at grocery store surveillance cameras in the area to see if they can find anyone buying eggs in bulk.
