Sato Wins His First Indianapolis 500
Takuma Sato became the first Japanese driver to win the Indianapolis 500 as he was able to hold off three-time winner Helio Castroneves in the 101st running of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” Sato edged Castroneves by a mere two-tenths of a second. After the 40-year-old Sato and Castroneves was rookie Ed Jones in third, Max Chilton in fourth and Tony Kanaan finished fifth.
