Joe and Carol Trimmer

JOE AND CAROL TRIMMER
If you spark a conversation with Carol Trimmer, chances are she’ll enlighten you with an interesting piece of information she learned from programs on Indiana Public Radio (IPR) like BBC World Service or Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me! No matter where she is in the state or country, Carol is able to connect and relate to others about the information being broadcasted on IPR.

Carol is an avid listener of IPR and has a rich history with the organization. She recently retired from IPR’s home base, located in Ball State’s David Letterman Communication and Media Building, after 15 years of service as outreach coordinator. She is still actively involved in the arts community of east central Indiana. Her husband, Joe, is a long-time professor of English and the director of the Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry, which provides distinctive, rigorous, and transformative immersive learning experiences for Ball State students.

The couple contributes being well-informed, active citizens in their community to public radio. Carol and Joe’s charitable remainder trust benefiting IPR ensures the future of public radio so that listeners will be connected to local and national news and issues. The Trimmers are proud members of the IPR Heritage Society and Ball State University Foundation’s Beneficence Society, both honoring donors who make a planned gift commitment.

“What makes a gift like Carol’s special is that this is the work she believes in and has worked at personally for many years. She is invested in her community as a serving citizen and her gift represents her commitment to Indiana Public Radio,” said former general manager of IPR, Marcus Jackman.

Carol’s deep rooted passion for IPR is evident. She and Joe consider their support of IPR to be a responsibility they share with many others in the community who wish to be informed about local and national topics of interest.

“The future of public radio is dependent on donor support. I’m always learning something from IPR and I believe in it with my whole heart. My donation helps to ensure its future is around for a long time,” said Carol.
