Muncie Arts and Culture Council

What started as a simple monthly conversation among artists and cultural organizations, the Muncie Arts & Culture Council (MACC) established the Muncie Arts & Culture District and is advocating for the arts as a major economic engine in the region.

The District was established by a proclamation of the city council in August, 2009, comprising four areas of the city: Downtown, Minnetrista, Heekin Park, and parts of the Ball State campus. Their work has been encouraged by the Muncie Action Plan where the establishment of the District was voted on by the community to be among 47 actions that rose to the top out of over 1,600 ideas.

Each area of the District offers distinct cultural experiences that when put together are very broad and diverse. The activities within the District can highlight the beauty and diversity of the city, adding to the general feeling that Muncie is a great place to live.
