Anderson Community Schools considers dropping Webber Transportation bus contract

By Stephanie Wiechmann | Published on in Uncategorized

Anderson Community Schools is considering dropping its contract for buses with Anderson’s Webber Transportation. Earlier this week, 29 school buses owned by the company failed spot inspections conducted by the Indiana State Police and had to be taken out of service.

Our news partner the Herald Bulletin quotes a statement by Anderson Community Schools officials that says the district will hold a hearing on November 3 to decide whether to terminate the Webber bus contract. That statement is not available on the district’s website and no one from ACS could be reached for comment by press time today.

Webber Transportation owner Dee Webber says the company has hired an attorney. Yesterday, she said in a statement that she was working with the Indiana State Police to bring all buses back into service with the goal of finishing by today.
