Officials at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) have called for an Air Quality Action Day Wednesday for Delaware and Madison counties in the IPR listening area.

Other nearby counties in the advisory include Marion, Hamilton, and Hancock.

An Air Quality Action Day means a combination of high temperatures, light winds, and other factors produce conditions where high levels of ozone emissions may exceed federally mandated standards.

Some recommended actions that can reduce ozone forming emissions include walking, biking, carpooling, or using public transportation. Officials advise reducing the amount of time spent in drive thru lanes, and to avoid refueling vehicles or using gasoline-powered lawn equipment until after 7 p.m.
