Komets Get Affiliation with the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes

By Stan Sollars, IPR News | Published on in Sports

The Fort Wayne Komets of the double-A, ECHL, announced yesterday they have an NHL affiliate in the Arizona Coyotes.

Komets head coach and Ball State graduate Gary Graham said he was very pleased about the news.  Arizona’s management agreed and say their organization respects the quality of the Komets organization, helmed by the Franke family, and the K’s rabid fan base.

Fort Wayne was without an NHL affiliate, last year.  Teams with such affiliations can send players up to the triple-A, American Hockey League, or up to ice hockey’s only major league in North America, the National Hockey League, and receive players from those leagues to fill in weak spots in their own lineups, and hone the skills of those players.
