It’s not necessarily true, but pigs are often considered dirty animals… They can smell, they like the mud and just like humans, they often carry different strains of influenza.

In the past, outbreaks of the swine flu have shut down some barns. As Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Lindsey Wright reports, researchers are using Indiana’s fairs to learn more about swine flu, and it’s led to changes in how pigs are kept across the Midwest.
