U.S. Sen. Todd Young (R-Ind.) says he’ll join fellow Republicans in Congress to make tax reform his priority this fall.

Young addressed the benefits of potential cuts Tuesday after an appearance with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue at the Indiana State Fair.

“Tax reform is probably the best bang we can get for our policy buck,” Young says.

The Trump administration and congressional Republicans have issued few details about the plan they hope to work on after the August break.

Young mentioned untaxed, offshore assets and tax barriers for small businesses as key issues for him. But he says he knows major reforms are a lofty goal.

“We need to make a very strong run at it,” he says. “I think we have more than a fighting chance to get it done.”

Young also says he’s not done with health care – especially as a majority of Indiana counties find themselves with only one or no insurance option:

“Hopefully there will be some bipartisan agreement that we can shore up the market while still agreeing on some much-needed reforms,” he says.

Young didn’t elaborate – or mention the idea some have touted, of trying again to repeal or replace the Affordable Care Act.
