Kroger officials say two former Marsh stores in Muncie will open as Pay Less stores in December and sometime in early 2018.

In a statement, Kroger spokesman Eric Halvorson says the former Marsh store on McGalliard Road will open first, sometime in “mid-to-late December.”  For the store on Tillotson Avenue, he says work will be done “early in the new year.”

To staff the Muncie stores, Kroger is holding job fairs in Muncie.  The next is Thursday, September 21 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Innovation Connector on White River Boulevard.  Other job fairs will be held on October 5 and November 2.

Kroger says those hired in Muncie will begin in October by training at the Pay Less store in Anderson.

In a June bankruptcy auction, Kroger subsidiary Topvalco bought 11 former Marsh stores, including two in Muncie.  Kroger also owns the Pay Less brand, and has branded stores in Anderson, Lafayette and West Lafayette.  In a July statement, Kroger said adding the Pay Less banner in Muncie follows that tradition.
