Kroger has named an official opening date for the former Marsh store on McGalliard Road in Muncie. But those wanting to shop at the former Marsh store on Tillotson Avenue in the city will have to wait a few more months.

In a statement, Kroger spokesman Eric Halvorson says the new Pay Less McGalliard Road store will open on December 14. He says those driving past the store will begin to see construction crews working on the building, as the company will spend $3 million on renovations.

As for the future Pay Less store on Tillotson Avenue, the company’s statement says it “anticipates” opening in March. Kroger will need to spend $5 million on that building.

The company says it is still hiring workers for the Muncie stores. It is holding two community job fairs in November:

  • November 2, 10 AM – 4 PM, Innovation Connector on White River Boulevard
  • November 18, 10 AM – 2 PM, Muncie Public Library Kennedy Branch on McGalliard Road

In a June bankruptcy auction, Kroger subsidiary Topvalco bought 11 former Marsh stores, including two in Muncie.  Kroger also owns the Pay Less brand, and has branded stores in Anderson, Lafayette and West Lafayette.  In a July statement, Kroger said adding the Pay Less banner in Muncie follows that tradition.
