Asbestos removal at the Madison County Government Center was approved by the Madison County Council. The county will take out a 14-year, $3.5 million dollar loan to get rid of the asbestos and remodel the courthouse. The money will come from the county’s share of income tax revenues. Workers will start moving out Nov. 27 and the building will close December 8. It should reopen by July.
