A jail officer for Delaware County was recorded on video holding a man at gunpoint in a Muncie parking lot Tuesday morning.

The video shows a man, later identified as jailer Jerry Shaner, holding another man on the ground and pointing a gun at him around 9:30 am in front of a nail salon. Shaner told somebody to call 911.

When a Muncie police officer showed up, Shaner can be heard yelling, “You move, you die” along with “He tried to get into my house and my daughter saw him.”

The Muncie Police Chief said there was no evidence that the man, who may suffer from mental illness, had committed a crime. Shaner has been placed on administrative leave, pending an internal investigation.
