Support from Hoosier Republican voters helped Joe Donnelly in 2012 when he was first elected to the U-S Senate. Now, Donnelly hopes to again garner support from the other side as he announced Monday the formation of a new campaign effort.

Several Republicans helped launch the group and praised Donnelly’s bipartisan approach.

Longtime Republican supporter Anne Emison Wishard says she came to support Senator Donnelly because of her deep roots in Indiana conservatism.  “The Republican party today is not my father’s Republican Party, it’s not my grandfather’s Republican Party or my great grandfather’s.”

Wishard says Donnelly shows willingness to work with either party. “Bipartisan is not a dirty word, and that’s why we need this man. And that’s why we need to keep this man.”

Indiana GOP Chair Kyle Hupfer says Donnelly doesn’t have his party’s support. He says Hoosier Republicans are united behind GOP candidate Mike Braun.
