Michigan City’s Lubeznik Center for the Arts will feature works by  Pop-artist Andy Warhol through October.

Andy Warhol was the leading figure of the pop art movement in the 60s and 70s, often working with cultural icons like musicians and writers.

Lubeznik Center exhibit, Warhol: Influence and Icon will feature works on loan from the Brauer Museum at Valparaiso University as well as a private collector.  Showcased works by Warhol will include Campbell’s Soup Can #1, Moonwalk, 1987, as well as a collection of Polaroids and screen prints, which becoming a defining medium for Warhol. Work by Chicago-area artists influenced by the artist will also be on display.

Lora Fosberg is the Director of Exhibitions at the Lubeznik Center. She said the Warhol exhibit is special to her and she’s excited to share it with the community.

“By bringing in a heavy hitter, like Andy Warhol, we thought that we could really bring something to the community that they would normally have to travel to see,” she said.

The exhibit will run through October 13th. The Lubeznik Center will host an opening reception for the exhibit July 6th.
