Fair Attendee Contracts Flu From Infected Pigs

An attendee of an Indiana county fair contracted the flu after being exposed to pigs. The Indiana State Department of Health says the strand of the flu, H3N2 is most commonly associated with contact with infected pigs. Health professionals say to wash your hands and keep things away from your mouth while in a pig barn or show areas. The flu is not transmitted by eating pork or pork products.
