Two Arrested in Muncie FBI Investigation

By IPR News | Published on in Crime, Government

Two arrests have been made in connection with an FBI investigation into Muncie’s Sanitary District.  Federal prosecutors say 49-year-old Tracy Barton of Selma who is Muncie’s sewer maintenance and engineering superintendent, is charged with falsification of documents, witness tampering, and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.  57-year-old businessman Jeffrey Burke faces charges of making false statements to an FBI agent, bank fraud, and obstruction of grand jury proceedings.

A grand jury says Barton took kickbacks for guiding contracts to particular contractors, according to prosecutors. Charges against Burke relate to his purchase of the Muncie Flea Market, prosecutors say, from the Sanitary District.
