Free Blood Lead Testing Offered In East Chicago
Free blood lead testing for children will be available in East Chicago Thursday.
Federal, state and city agencies teamed up to offer the testing from a mobile unit. The tests will be given from 2-7 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Center parking lot at the USS Lead Superfund site in East Chicago. The tests will be free for children ages six months to 7-years-old.
A recent study found the blood lead levels of children living in the superfund site is higher than those living in other parts of the city.
