New Consumer Protections Help Guard Against Data Theft Ramifications

You might have had your credit info compromised by the Equifax credit breach of 2017. Over half of the people in Indiana had their personal data stolen by hackers. Sen. Joe Donnelly said you can now have your credit files frozen if you suspect that’s happened to you. Donnelly highlighted several new consumer protection provisions he authored, some of which recently went into effect. The provisions allow all Americans to freeze and unfreeze their credit free of charge, set year-long fraud alerts, and more easily manage their credit files.
