Several IPR area non-profit organizations are receiving grant money from the state to help continue taking care of school-age children when school is not in session.

The Family and Social Services Administration is awarding more than $1.5 million to support high-quality child care for older children across Indiana.

In the IPR area, those receiving money include:

  • Anderson Township Trustee Youth Center – $80,000 over two years
  • Boys & Girls Club of Huntington County – $80,000 over two years
  • Huffer Memorial Children’s Center – $78,000 over two years
  • Wabash County YMCA – $80,000 over two years

In a statement, grant office director Nicole Norvell says the grant money can help working families not be concerned that children are being cared for in “a safe and enriching environment” when school is out.
