Students at Ball State University met Monday to protest growing tensions between the US and Iran.  As IPR’s Kwaku Dakwa reports, those marching say they want their voices heard in all the ways available to them.

It may have been a cold windy day, but that didn’t stop students at Ball State University voicing their opposition to the conflict in the Middle East.

The crowd chants, “We will not be silenced, in the face of government violence!”

Ball State student Andrew Evans says he sees protests like these as a way to bring change.

“We are a very militarized society, and hopefully that can change, and these protests are really the way to do that.”

Dominic Bordenaro, president of the Ball State College Democrats, shared a similar stance when talking about war.

“We’ve just been involved in wars my entire life and it’s just…. They’re needless and unfortunate.”

Bordenaro says it’s important for people to make their voices heard when it comes to issues like these.

“I encourage everyone to go to Indianavoters.com and check their registration status and get registered to vote.”
