Ball State University updated its coronavirus statistics Wednesday night on its COVID-19 dashboard, online.  Sixty-four coronavirus tests have been done for students, with 33 tests coming back positive. Four employees have been tested with one positive. These tests were done through IU Health. New to Ball State’s COVID-19 Dashboard online, are reports of positive cases from other sources, including self-reports. In that category, another 110 students and three employees tested positive.

In a communiqué to faculty, Provost Susana Rivera-Mills said, “We do not have a spike in cases. What you will see on the dashboard is additional testing results reflected in the daily totals and numbers that we have received from other sources, primarily self-reports.”

Rivera-Mills went on to say, “Please keep in mind by filing the self-report, individuals are notifying the University of their absence from arriving on campus due to their positive test result.  Some of the students who have self-reported have not come to campus because they tested positive before classes started. Others who have tested positive are following the recommended protocols for isolation.”

The provost also said the university saw a cluster of cases in a fraternity house, and notified county health officials who, in turn, issued a quarantine order for everyone in the house. No mention was made of the name or address of the fraternity house.
