A Greene County woman became the first of more than 400 people to be sentenced for involvement in the January 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol building.

Indiana native Anna Morgan-Lloyd signed a plea agreement last month for one charge of “parading, demonstrating, or picketing in (the) Capitol Building”– for which she is being sentenced to three years’ probation, a $500 fine, and 40 hours of community service.

Parading, demonstrating, or picketing can carry a maximum sentence of six months imprisonment and a $5,000 fine.

The government is recommending a lower sentencing that will not involve jail time for those who are being charged with misdemeanors, don’t have a criminal history, aren’t members of extremist groups, and did not pre-plan entering the Capitol.

Court records show Morgan-Lloyd attended the rally with friend and Indiana resident Dona Bissey.

She wrote in a Facebook post responding to another rioter, “I’m here. Best Day ever.” She went on to say that she and Bissey were among the first 50 people in.

Court records show she did not spend an extended period in the Capitol Building and didn’t damage property.
