An Indiana nonprofit wants the newest generation of workers to consider careers in advanced manufacturing and logistics. Conexus Indiana says there are lots of good-paying jobs and the demand is growing for workers.

The marketing campaign is primarily a website aimed at 16- to 24-year-olds. It includes things like personality quizzes that steer students towards jobs in advanced manufacturing or logistics – which they call “makers” and “movers.” It then leads visitors to information on available public and private training programs in those fields.

Brad Rhorer is chief talent programs officer at Conexus. He said along the way, they hope to defy the impression some people have that factories are dirty and use antiquated processes.

“It’s not the 1970s anymore, we’re in the 21st century,” Rhorer said. “Artificial intelligence, the internet of things, 3D printing, all of that exists in advanced manufacturing and logistics in our state.”

Rhorer said the campaign is aligned with state-sponsored programs like NextLevel Jobs and a new career and technical education curriculum coming to schools this fall.
