Ball State’s women’s basketball Cardinals racked up their 23 win of the season last night at Worthen Arena, shellacking Western Michigan 80 to 49.

After a close first quarter ending with a Ball State lead of 21 to 17, the Cards broke the game open outscoring the Broncos 27 to 10 in the second stanza.  Western’s 49 points were the fewest allowed by Ball State this season.

Anna Clephane scored 14 points, Ally Becki added 13 points, and Marie Kiefer and Annie Rauch contributed 11 points each.

Ball State has a record of 23-and-5 overall and 13-and-2 in the Mid-American Conference, still tied for first place in the conference with Toledo and Bowling Green.

Next up is the last home game of the season.  Toledo comes to Worthen Arena for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff on Saturday.
