00;00;00;24 - 00;00;05;00 Abigail Urban Since he was a young kid, John Gonzalez has always been interested in art. 00;00;05;03 - 00;00;15;17 John Gonzalez I was always drawing all the time. You know, I wasn't really into sports or anything, really. I just kind of found my refuge in being creative. 00;00;15;19 - 00;00;25;27 Abigail Urban Gonzalez creates a wide variety of art, from physical paintings to interactive installations. He's brought a show on experimental play to Ball State's Ned and Gloria Griner art gallery. 00;00;25;29 - 00;00;37;01 John Gonzalez And we're all sort of trained to not touch the artwork. However, there's little placards and everything on the ground that sort of invites, visitors to interact with the artworks. 00;00;37;07 - 00;00;45;11 Abigail Urban The goal is to bring people into communities or spaces they often don't notice, find or see, pushing them to interact with it and each other. 00;00;45;16 - 00;01;09;02 John Gonzalez Do like to pull from that idea of like being in a space, acknowledging this space program. And sometimes that involves like, you know, like physical, kind of like matter from outside rocks and dirt and things like that. But I think also there's a sort of like social science specificity, you know, the students, the people who are in the space. 00;01;09;04 - 00;01;15;10 Abigail Urban Gonzalez's work is available to see at Ball State through January 29th. I'm Abigail Urban in Muncie.
