Chesterfield to hold public forum and vote for Mounds Lake Commission

By Stephanie Wiechmann | Published on in Uncategorized

The Chesterfield Town Council is set to vote tonight on whether to join a commission that would continue studying the Mounds Lake Reservoir proposal. The council is hosting a public forum tonight at Millcreek Civic Center. That meeting begins at 7:00 PM. Anyone can attend, but the council says it only wants to hear testimony from its constituents – those who live in Chesterfield or Union Township.

An intergovernmental commission would take on a third feasibility study and possible construction of the 2,100 acre reservoir – estimated by Anderson’s Corporation for Economic Development to cost $400 million. The Anderson City Council has already voted to form the commission. Daleville and Yorktown also plan to vote this month. Rob Sparks with the Mounds Lake project told Anderson City Council members in May that all four locales must vote yes to form the commission for the project to continue.
