Riggin Road Roundabout Nearing Completion

By INDOT / IPR News | Published on in Uncategorized

MUNCIE, Ind.—The Indiana Department of Transportation or INDOT says the Walnut Street-Riggin Road roundabout project near the Delaware County Airport north of Muncie is entering its final phase of construction.

Riggin Road will reopen onto a new pavement section.  Walnut Street will close just north of Riggin Road.

This final phase of the project should be completed—weather permitting—in two or three weeks.

INDOT says northbound Walnut Street traffic will be routed east on Royerton Road also known as C.R. 500 North, then south on Old State Road 3 and back west on Royerton Road.

Southbound Walnut Street traffic will be routed east on Royerton Road, south on Old State Road 3 and east on Riggin Road.

The City of Muncie sponsors roundabout project with 20 percent matching funds.  The Federal Highway Administration pays 80 percent of the $1-point-2 million contract cost.
