Last day to register to vote for November’s election

By Stephanie Wiechmann | Published on in Uncategorized

Today is the last day to register to vote in November’s municipal election. And that means early voting in Indiana begins tomorrow. Voters had until today to register in person at local county clerk’s offices, at Bureau of Motor Vehicle offices, or by postmarking mail applications by today’s date. Secretary of State Connie Lawson says voters can still register through tonight online at indianavoters.com or through the state’s mobile app.

Beginning tomorrow, Hoosiers can begin voting early at county clerks’ offices around the state or by requesting an absentee ballot by mail. 2015 is a municipal election year, meaning no statewide or national races appear on the ballot. Four counties have no races to vote on – Benton, Brown, Newton, and Warren.

Indiana’s voter participation has been slowly declining in recent years. Lawson’s office says only 30 percent of registered voters cast a ballot in 2014 – the lowest turnout in the nation.
