Cornerstone Center for the Arts to host first Holiday Show & Sale
Holiday shoppers looking for those special gifts while supporting the local arts scene, small businesses and local crafters will be able to do all three at the upcoming Holiday Show & Sale, sponsored by Cornerstone Center for the Arts.
The Holiday Show & Sale is a new project for Cornerstone, said Carly Acree-King, director of education and communication at Cornerstone.
The event, scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 13, will begin at 1:30 p.m. with music and dance performances from the school’s students, some as young as 3 years old.
“The children have worked really hard on these dances for the past six to 12 weeks,” said tap and ballet instructor Kayla Kern. “I’m excited to see how they perform and if they remember anything that I’ve taught them over the whole semester.”
More than 30 vendors and crafters will display their locally made items from 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
“There are so many different crafters in Muncie and we all make such different, unique items,” said Sarah Gremer, owner of Cuddle Kernels. “It’s a chance to get something that you can put under the tree for someone that they’re not going to be able to find it at some huge store that’s made from somewhere else. This is made from somebody who lives locally; it’s the time and the effort and the heart that has gone into making these items.”
An appearance from Santa Claus and refreshments also are part of the event, which organizers hope will attract as many as 800 attendees.
“I think it will bring the community together,” said volunteer Kasey Speicher. “They will be able to come and see all forms of art through dance, physical art pieces, music and that kind of thing.”
The Holiday Show & Sale is free to attend and open to the public.
