Men and the HPV Vaccine

By Jake Harper, Side Effects Public Media | Published on in Uncategorized

2825069064_ab29d07512_zShould a man in his 20’s consider getting vaccinated for HPV? That’s the sexually transmitted virus that’s linked to certain cancers, like cervical cancer in women.  The CDC has recommended the vaccine for teen girls since 2006 but only started recommending the vaccine for boys and young men in 2011. Which means Jake Harper, a single, 29-year-old reporter for Side Effects Public Media, never got the shots. That has him worried.
