Cards hope to go 4-and-3 with a homecoming win over Akron; Purdue and IU on the road; Notre Dame idle

In major college football, Saturday …

Mike Neu’s 4-and-3 Ball State football Cardinals hope to please Ball State’s homecoming crowd tomorrow at Scheumann Stadium with a win over Akron. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. You can also see the game on ESPN-3. With a victory, Saturday, Ball State will be one win away from becoming bowl-game eligible.

Elsewhere, Purdue and its new head coach Gerad Parker travel to Lincoln, Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers.  Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.

Indiana travels up I-65 to battle Northwestern.  Both teams are 3-and-3.  Kickoff is at noon on the Big Ten Network.

Notre Dame has Saturday off.
