A state lawmaker honored a Rush County heating contractor on the floor of the Indiana House this week for saving the life of a Ball State University trustee.  Representative Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) authored a House resolution praising Sam Maggard.

In January, Ball State trustee and Rush County business owner Jean Ann Harcourt was having lunch in a restaurant in Milford, when her heart stopped beating.  The resolution says Maggard performed CPR on Harcourt until paramedics could take over.

After introducing the resolution on the House floor, Saunders says Maggard’s actions saved Harcourt’s life.

The resolution also asked all Hoosiers to learn CPR to be able to assist when emergencies happen.
