Ball State men’s basketball loses to Ohio

You won’t be seeing the Ball State men’s team advance in the MAC Tournament. The Cardinals were clobbered by Ohio 90 to 70 in quarterfinal action, Thursday, in Cleveland.
After Ball State lead by six points in the first four minutes of the game, Ohio went on a number of runs and the Cards found themselves trailing at halftime 54 to 32. The Bobcats took advantage of a thin Ball State bench and outhustled the Cards to lead in rebounds 45 to 30. That alone did not help Ball State with second-chance points or defensive stops.
Four Cardinals scored in double figures, led by Payton Sparks with 21.
As an NCAA Tournament bid is out of the picture, Ball State awaits the possibility of an NIT or a CBI tournament bid with its 20-and-12 overall record.
