Ball State’s women’s basketball Cardinals beat Belmont in style last night at Worthen Arena in the first round of the WNIT, 101 to 86.  The Cards will play Memphis, on the road, Monday night at 8.

After a slow start and trailing Belmont in the first quarter, Ball State picked up the pace and started to hit its shots.

Redshirt senior Anna Clephane became a scoring machine, achieving a career high 31 points.  She was followed by Madelyn Bischoff with 23, Thelma Dis Agustsdottir with 20, and Marie Kiefer with 10.

Dis Agustsdottir hit six three-pointers, bringing her season total to 104 treys – a new program record.

The Cards tied a program record last night by notching their 26th win of the season against eight losses.  Former Head Coach Kelly Packard achieved a 26-and-9 record in the 2008-2009 season.
