Indiana Department of Education allows flexible snow day make-up alternatives

Indiana state schools officials announced today that schools with numerous missed days because of winter weather can make up that time by adding more hours to the school day.  Typically schools add make-up days during Spring Break or at the end of the year.   But this year, the Indiana Department of Education says it will allow districts to make up the time in additional minutes or hours.  Adding about an hour each school day for a week would be equivalent to making up one school day.  By state law, schools don’t have to make up time missed during days when they operated on two or three hour delays.
