Indiana Attorney General: Hoosiers eligible for AT&T mobile refunds over “mobile cramming”

Indiana’s Attorney General says more than 450,000 Hoosiers may receive refunds from AT&T for false charges on their cell phone bills. Greg Zoeller says the mobile provider has settled a national case over what’s known as “mobile cramming.” These are charges from third party services that send text messages with horoscopes, trivia, and sports scores to a cell phone for a charge each month. Zoeller says these charges have appeared on customer’s AT&T bills nationwide without customers knowing about or authorizing the service.

The settlement says AT&T has to provide $80 million for refunds to customers. Zoeller says about 460,000 Hoosiers might be eligible for a refund. He says those people should file a claim for a refund immediately through the Federal Trade Commission’s website.
