Another new building on the Ball State campus will consolidate the university’s health study programs.

The Ball State Board of Trustees Friday approved a new $62.5 million health professions building. The university says the 2015 Indiana General Assembly recently approved Phase I of a multiphase project that would put health care programs in a new building on campus. Some reports say the building will be built on Riverside Avenue, east of McKinley – the main north-south street through campus.

Future renovation or replacement of facilities serving the remaining programs in the 45-year-old Cooper Science Complex, would follow.

Some programs discussed for placement in the new structure include nursing, health sciences, speech pathology and audiology, nutrition and dietetics, social work, the Social Science Resource Center, and athletic training.

The General Assembly appropriated funding for construction of the new facility through bonding approval.
