Gubernatorial Race: Where the candidates stand

By Brandon Smith, IPB News | Published on in Politics, Statewide News

There are three gubernatorial candidates to choose from this November: Republican Eric Holcomb, Democrat John Gregg, and Libertarian Rex Bell.  Indiana’s deadline to register to vote in the presidential and statewide election is Tuesday, October 11.  You can register online at indianavoters.com.

Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Brandon Smith recently sat down with Holcomb and Gregg to talk about the election season and their positions on major issues.

Eric Holcomb

Eric Holcomb became Indiana’s lieutenant governor about seven months ago. He became the Republican nominee for governor, replacing Mike Pence, about two months ago. And he says he’s treated each day since like it was a week in a normal campaign.

Democrat John Gregg got a bit of a head start in the race for governor – he’s spent a year campaigning, while his Republican opponent only became the nominee two months ago. And that’s meant Gregg’s been rolling out policy proposals for a while.
