Ball State helps lead NIH study on molecular-level exercise effects
Ball State will join with two other major research institutions as part of a national project to discover how exercise changes the body on the molecular level. The study could lead to more tailor-made exercise plans for individuals.
Ball State’s world-renowned Human Performance Laboratory will form one clinical trial site with University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Center for Exercise Medicine and the Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes in Orlando, Florida. The three partners will share a projected $6.6 million from 2017-2023. Ball State officials say the program is part of a $170 million National Institutes of Health investment for the largest human exercise-physiology training study in the field’s history.
