Indiana Continues As The Nation’s Leading Steel-Producing State

Indiana once again led the nation in steel production in 2016. The state produced 27 percent of American-made steel, making it the top steel-producing state for the 42nd consecutive year. Data from the American Iron and Steel Institute shows raw steel production in Indiana increased by 1.2 million tons last year, which was 5.1 percent higher than the previous year.
