Restoration of Auburn’s Fire-Ravaged Eckhart Library Might Take 18 Months

Restoration of the fire-ravaged, historic, main building of Auburn’s Eckhart Public Library could take well over a year to complete. The library was damaged July 2nd in a fire that has been blamed on arson. Library officials say the entire main building and contents–including books, resources and computers–were damaged or destroyed and it could take as much as 18 months to re-open. Fire investigators say a lit firework was dropped in the book depository. A suspect has been arrested. Auburn is a half-hour north of Fort Wayne.
