Tragedy has struck the Ball State family. Men’s basketball forward Zach Hollywood, a promising player from Illinois, died Tuesday in an off-campus apartment, according to the university. He was 19.

The Ball State Daily News reports the Delaware County coroner ruled his death a suicide. Hollywood spent one year with the team as a redshirt freshman. In a statement, the university said, in part, that Hollywood, “… made many positive impressions throughout campus.  This is a tragedy.  Our heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends and teammates.”

Hollywood was a special education major.  His mother passed away in August, last year.
